I recently came to realise that there's a lot of misconceptions about superfoods and that a huge amount of people either don't understand their health benefits or simply don't know how to include them in their diet. Superfoods are a small but very important part of my diet and of course, my health.
I enjoy reading the latest health info, trying new recipes and finding different ways to include superfoods in my diet. This blog series as a space to share my favourite pieces of info and the recipes I've tried and loved.
So, here’s my first favourite superfood – cocoa! I wrote about how much I love this superfood and how good it is for your health not so long ago, check out the blog post here.
Here are two chocolaty recipes I use often, here'es hoping you enjoy them as much as I do.
Choc-Mint Superfood Smoothie
250ml Almond Milk
2tbsp Wazoogles Chocolate Moondust
1tbsp cocoa powder
Leaves of two sprigs of mint
1tbsp chia seeds
1tbsp coconut oil
Oh-So-Healthy Chocolate Sauce
½ cup coconut cream
2tbps cocoa powder
1 tbsp chia seeds
1tsp Baobab powder
Directions: add all the ingredients into a bowl and whisk for 2-3 minutes. Place in the fridge for 20 minutes before serving.
The two cocoa products I always keep stock of are Wazoogles Superfood Protein Shake - Chocolate Moondust (available online here, with free delivery if you’re in Cape Town) and Superfoods Organic Cocoa Powder (online from Faithful to Nature or at selected health stores).
