Chia Seeds were eaten by Aztec warriors during battle to give them energy and endurance. The very word Chia means “strength”.
I first came across Chia Seeds when I was looking for a vegan source of Omega-3. I was surprised to find a whole whack of other health benefits. Chia seeds help support the digestive system, promote healthy skin and contain a stack of other nutrients. Chia Seeds are easy to come by, available at most health shops and pharmacies, and easily included in your diet. They can be added to salads, smoothies, sauces, and the list goes on. I usually have about 1 – 2 teaspoons a day, one in the morning and if I need a little energy boost before gym in the evening I’ll have a teaspoon of Chia Seeds and Coconut Oil (works like a bomb!).
Five Benefits of Chia Seeds:
Coconut Chia pudding:
1 tin organic coconut cream
¼ cup chia seeds
1 tbsp Xylitol / honey
1 tbsp Wazoogles Vanilla Sky protein powder (optional)
Directions: mix all the ingredients together, place in airtight container in the fridge overnight. Serve with fresh fruit and nuts or just by itself.
PS. This pudding is so healthy, you could even have it for breakfast.
